2008 Racing
Bay Retriever will be joining the BCYA NonSpin fleet, racing against boats with similar racing for Tuesday nights. No weekend races are expected until Fall '08
2007 Summary
Bay Retriever participated in a few EYC Beercans, but otherwise took the season off to enjoy recreational sailing.
2007-06-10 - Annaplois to Newport 2007
Infrared starting out in front in the 2007 Newport race. I was the navigator and watch captain, and got to drive for the start.
2006 Harbor Cup
Bay Retriever spent longer in the yard for 2006 than expected, and as a result participated in few races. For the 2006 Harbor Cup, with a limited crew (just two of us) we entered PHRF Nonspin. Racing against a Beneteau 36.7, Dehler 39, and others, in an upwind, 21.1 mile race (not generally regarded as the fastest point of sail in a 30 year old cruising boat), Bay Retriever finished 6/11. Not too shabby.
2005 Summary
The 2005 season saw the skipper's time split between racing on other boats (Air Mail, Ronin) and other activities. Nonetheless, Bay Retriever took 2nd in the 2nd half of the Friday Beercan series, held with the top boats for most of Harbor Cup (before figuring out half the fleet got the wrong message from the RC about the course), and took first in the 2nd annual S2 9.2 East Coast Championships.
The new prop definitely makes a difference in light air, the new genoa helped dramatically with pointing, and the new asymmetric makes sailing Bay Retriever a whole new game.
