Bay Retriever returned from her 2016 engine repower and electronics upgrades with a series of short cruises to the Middle River, and a final 8 hour trek to Deale, MD, for her winter layup. The new engine, autopilot, VHF/AIS radio, and MFD/chart plotter are working great, and we're excited for the 2018 season ahead!

After competing in the Governor's Cup, Bay Retriever set sail for the 90 mile trek back to Baltimore. With winds still 15-25 out of the South, we had a beat out of the river and into the Bay, then a great run home, making 7 knots under main alone for several hours.

The engine troubles for last year have finally been diagnosed as clogged cooling passages in the silencer/thermostat, the failed mixing elbow has been replaced, and the bottom is set to be painted this week.

She should launch next Tuesday.

First cruise is tentatively scheduled for May 21 to Chestertown on the Eastern Shore.
