2002 Re-commissioning (and upgrades since)

S/V Bay Retriever was re-launched in 2002, following a period of at least 5 years on land.  Despite a previous blister problem, her extended layup allowed sufficient time for the hull to dry out.  After the blisters were ground down, the hull was coated with 5 coats of Interlux Interprotect.  Everything not permanently tabbed to the hull was removed from the interior, including carpeting, hull liner, cabinets, ports (opening and fixed), electrical wiring, plumbing, gas lines, cushions, even the engine and through-hulls.  As the interior was rebuilt, almost everything was replaced w/ new, custom-made and fitted parts.  The engine received a top-end rebuild.  The wiring and plumbing were redone to ABYC standards.  The new cabinetry is a work of art.

The mast was re-rigged with 316-grade 1/4" stainless wire rope with StaLok fittings, new Sta-Set X and Sta-Set halyards, topping lifts, sheets, etc, a new Harken furling unit, and new electrical and antenna wiring.  With her fresh, brand new antenna, wire, and RayMarine VHF, she routinely receives Coast Guard signals from Norfolk and New Jersey, and occassionally Charleston, not to mention all the damn powerboat traffic from Rock Hall, Annapolis, and other nearby areas at the edge of standard VHF range.

During the winter of '06, she received a new rudder from Foss Foam, her compression post was thoroughly inspected and rebedded, her main was replaced, and a bunch of other small projects were completed.

Interested in purchasing Bay Retriever?  She's a great boat, but as the list of major rebuild items and projects nears completion, it may be time to move on to another boat.  She could be sold to the right buyer for the right place; contact me for details.
